The 27-year-old England international was dismissed in the 64th minute of the fourth-round tie at the John Smith's Stadium for a "spear" tackle on Saints full-back Jonny Lomax.
The Giants were leading 16-8 at the time but went on to lose 17-16.
Second-row Ferres, an ever-present for Huddersfield so far this season, has been charged by the Rugby Football League's match-review panel with a grade E offence - the second-most serious charge they could bring - and will appear in front of a disciplinary committee on Tuesday evening.
London Broncos prop Nick Slyney has been charged with a grade B dangerous throw on Catalan Dragons back-row forward Jason Baitieri during his side's 40-24 Challenge Cup defeat in Perpignan last Friday.
Castleford prop Scott Wheeldon has been charged with a grade A offence of striking with the head on Batley forward Adam Gledhill during the Tigers' 48-10 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday.
Slyney and Wheeldon have until 11am on Tuesday to submit early guilty pleas.
