Castleford coach Daryl Powell believes his side's Magic Weekend showdown with Wakefield is a must-win match if they are to keep alive their outside hopes of reaching the play-offs.

The Tigers go into Saturday's game at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium in 12th position in the Super League table with seven points, four points behind the 10th-placed Wildcats.

Powell, who is preparing to take charge of his second match since succeeding Ian Millward, said: "It's a key game for us, no question about that.

"We need to get there and perform and start showing some consistency.

Target

"We've not talked too much about the top eight but it's still there. However, we need to win on the weekend to keep it within sight. That's why it's such an important game for us."

Tongan forward Taulima Tautai, who signed for Wakefield following the collapse of his proposed move to Castleford, will make his Super League debut just three days after flying into the country.

"I'm excited," he said. "The coach said he wanted me to play this week so I quickly got my head around it."
