Wakefield forward Chris Annakin has been served with a five-match ban by the Rugby Football League.

Annakin was charged with a dangerous throw in his side's loss to Warrington on Sunday and was given his punishment on Tuesday night by the RFL's disciplinary committee.

His ban means coach Richard Agar will not be able to call on him for the relegation scrap with Bradford on Sunday. He will also sit out games against London, Wigan, Hull and Leeds.

Warrington forward Ben Westwood was charged with the same offence and he has been given a three-match ban.

That means the England international will miss this weekend's eagerly anticipated clash with leaders Leeds.

Widnes Vikings winger Paddy Flynn has been banned for two matches for punching Castleford's Justin Carney.

Flynn submitted an early guilty plea after being charged with the grade C offence following a fight with Carney. Both players were sent to the sin bin after the confrontation in the 57th minute of the Tigers' 34-22 win on Sunday.

Flynn will now miss the Vikings' next two games against Catalan Dragons in Super League on Friday and Keighley in the Tetley's Challenge Cup quarter-finals the following week.

Carney did not have the option of an early guilty plea, so his case was dealt with by the disciplinary committee and he was also banned for two games.

The winger, dubbed as 'the tank on the flank', was suspended on three separate occasions last season and has been warned once during this campaign.
