Hull KR coach Chris Chester has announced Terry Campese will captain the team in the forthcoming season.

The 30-year-old half-back signed a one-year deal with the Robins in December and has been selected as a replacement leader for the departed Josh Hodgson and Travis Burns.

Hodgson and Burns shared the role last season, but both have now departed Craven Park for other clubs.

"It's a huge honour for me. This club's got a lot of history behind it, it's a very proud club and I can't wait to run out there with the boys," Campese said.

Campese made more than 100 appearances for the Raiders in the NRL, while he has also represented Australia, New South Wales and the Country Origin side.

And Chester believes the player’s competence made him the idea choice for the position.

"I thought Terry was a natural candidate. He's an experienced player and he's been captain for Canberra, but it's more what he brings to the role off the field as well," said Chester.
