Hull KR have completed the signing of Wigan Warriors centre Darrell Goulding for next season.

The 26-year-old former England centre will end his lengthy spell with Wigan after agreeing to join the Robins on a three-year deal at the end of the campaign.

Craig Sandercock, head coach of Hull KR, said: "He has been there and done that in terms of winning competitions and Challenge Cups and it's a pleasure to have a thorough professional join our club.

"He is a big game player and I'm really looking forward to working with him."

"He is a big game player and I'm really looking forward to working with him."

Goulding has played for the Warriors since 2005, racking up more than 150 appearances, and was part of the team that completed the Challenge Cup and Grand Final double in 2013.

He hopes to have similar success with Rovers and is keen to pass on his experience to the younger players.

"I think I needed a new challenge at this stage of my career and there were a few clubs interested," Goulding said. "I spoke to them all but the ambition at Hull KR really stood out.

Going places

"Speaking to Craig Sandercock and (assistant coach) Chris Chester, it's definitely a club that's going places and the fact they wanted me so much was a really good feeling to have.

"I'd love to repay their faith in me by coming over and getting back to my best form again. It's a new opportunity and one that I think will probably reignite me.

"I've been fortunate to be part of a lot of success at Wigan and that's something I'd love to replicate at Rovers. I'd love to be pushing for success over the next couple of years and there's no reason why we can't.

"I'm also looking forward to the challenge of being one of the more experienced players in the outside backs and working with some of the young guys at the club as well."

Goulding will depart Wigan on good terms and the club is confident that one of their young players can fill the void.

General manager Kris Radlinski said: "I would like to thank Darrell for everything he has given to the Wigan club over the years.

"He was open and honest when we sat down to discuss his future and we respect that he has reached the stage in his career where he needs to try something different with a new challenge.

"The timing also works for us in that we have Dan Sarginson who is developing into a top-class centre, plus Iain Thornley and Anthony Gelling vying for the other spot, whilst we also have young players such as Oliver Gildart ready to break into the first team, all of which bodes well for 2015 and beyond."
