Ben Cockayne is not getting carried away after Hull KR secured their first win of the season against Bradford Bulls over the weekend.

The Robins have endured a slow start to the Super League campaign despite a busy off-season of recruitment that saw the club bring in the likes of Justin Poore and Michael Weyman.

Craig Sandercock's side ended a run of five matches without a win on Sunday with a 16-0 success over the beleaguered Bulls, but Cockayne says there is plenty more work ahead.

Next up for the East Yorkshire club are Wakefield on home soil on Sunday and the former Wildcats winger knows they still have a lot of work to do.

No illusions

"We are under no illusions that we have more work to do," he told the Hull Daily Mail. "But this could be the kick up the backside that tells us we can do it. If we had lost to Bradford, it would have been awful.

"We won't be getting carried away by the Bradford result, but the win should see us kick on and give us more confidence. It's nice to get the win but we have tougher challenges ahead of us.

"We still have a hell of a lot of work to do. We weren't as crisp as we would have liked, but we won and kept them to zero points.

"We're very relieved to get our first win and it's a big monkey off our back. Keeping them to zero was the most pleasing thing."
