Catalan Dragons assistant Jerome Guisset has followed head coach Laurent Frayssinous in signing a new two-year deal.

Guisset, 35, will now remain at the French Super League club along with his boss until at least 2016.

Frayssinous, who committed his immediate future to the Perpignan-based side earlier this month, said: “I'm really happy to keep Jerome in the staff for the next two seasons.

“It was one of my conditions during the discussions with the board for my own extension that Jerome would be given a new deal too.”

Former French international prop Guisset joined the Dragons' backroom staff when he retired from playing for the side at the end of the 2010 season.

Guisset began his career in his native France before a year-long spell with Australian NRL side Canberra Raiders was followed by four years at Super League team Warrington Wolves.

He then moved to Wigan in 2005 and played 22 times before switching to Catalans a year later, and took his Super League appearances to 269 before retirement.

Guisset also made 33 appearances among the forwards for France and featured in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.

Catalans are currently eighth in the First Utility Super League table, with seven wins from 15 matches.
