Steve Menzies has extended his illustrious playing career after signing a new one-year deal with the Catalan Dragons.
The 38-year-old Australian, nicknamed Beaver, spent his career with NRL club Manly prior to joining Super League in 2009.
Menzies played for two years with the Bradford Bulls before moving to the south of France, where he has become a cult hero.
The former Test international had always kept open the possibility of playing, despite being three months shy of his 39th birthday.
Excited
Menzies has again been a crucial player for the Dragons and the temptation to help the game in France was too hard to reject.
"Happy to announce that I've just signed with Catalan Dragons for one last season," he wrote on his official
twitter account.
"I'm really excited about the future of league here in France.
"I took my time, it was an important decision and I wanted to be 100 per cent sure to compete at this level next season."

Menzies is the most prolific try-scoring forward in NRL with 180 tries in 349 appearances and has scored 43 tries in 91 Super League (22 tries and 40 appearances for Catalan).
Catalans chairman Bernard Guasch said: "Steve is an example for all his
team-mates and the young players who are coming through.
"He is a valuable player who brings us his experience and talent and he has
showed over the last two seasons he was still among the best."
