Centre Anthony Gelling has signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at Wigan until the end of 2019.

The 24-year-old Cook Islands international has scored 33 tries in 55 Super League appearances since joining Wigan from the New Zealand Warriors reserves at the end of 2011.

The eccentric Gelling, who arrived for the Good Friday derby with St Helens on a BMX bike, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "Anthony is a character and I think the Wigan fans have come to love him, whether he's on his bike or whatever it is.

"He's not on his bike at the moment, he's with Wigan for the long-term and we're delighted with that.. He's a great character but he's also a very good player."
