Matty Bowen is keen to remain at Wigan for another season, saying he and his family are happy in the north-west having moved from Australia at the start of the year.

The 32-year-old full-back joined from North Queensland Cowboys on a one-year deal following the departure of Sam Tomkins.

Bowen, who spent 15 seasons with the Cowboys, admits it took him a few games to adjust to life and Super League rugby in England but has recently started to show glimpses of his best form.

"I'm keen to stay on. I just spoke to my manager last week and hopefully we can get a few things running and I can stay here."

He notched a hat-trick of tries in last Sunday's Challenge Cup victory over Hunslet which took his tally for the year to eight in nine appearances.

"I had big shoes to fill when I first came here and I was disappointed with my first couple of games but I'm starting to find my feet now," he said.

Settling

"The family are settling in, which is a good part of me playing good footy. When they're happy, I'm happy.

Dogged by knee injuries during the latter part of his career in Australia, Bowen has been happy with the way Warriors coach Shaun Wane has been using him this season by rotating him with 19-year-old Ryan Hampshire.

"We've been sharing the games around a bit. They knew about my past injuries and how to keep me on the field," he said.

"Waney is pretty open about resting players and I'm happy to sit out and give Rocky (Hampshire) a go. It's working so far."
