Huddersfield Giants hooker Shaun Lunt has reaffirmed his commitment to the club in a bid to dispel talk of a potential departure.

Speculation had been rife following a two-month spell on the sidelines with a calf injury, while there was fresh fuel added to the fire as Hull KR begin their search for a new number nine.

Rovers hooker Josh Hodgson is leaving the KC Lightstream Stadium at the end of the Super League season to join NRL side Canberra Raiders, sparking rumours Lunt could be his replacement in East Yorkshire.

Just recently there have been rumours about myself and other clubs, which are false.

However, following his try-scoring return to action in Sunday’s 36-18 victory over Wakefield Wildcats, the 27-year-old quashed any transfer talk.

“Just recently there have been rumours about myself and other clubs, which are false,” Lunt told the Huddersfield Examiner.

As well as being linked with Hull KR earlier in the week, many in the rugby league fraternity expected him to attract interest of Leeds Rhinos, where he claimed a Super League Grand Final winner’s medal two years ago.

“But I’m contracted to the Giants until the end of 2015 and I’ll be completing that contract,” he continued.

“To be honest, thinking about my future hasn’t been at the forefront of mind, because all my focus has been on getting myself right so I can help the Giants mount a serious challenge at the end of the regular season and in the play-offs.”

Lunt showed no ill-effects from his calf problem against Wakefield and is expected to be in the Giants’ line-up for the home clash against Widnes Vikings on Sunday week, a match you can see live on Sky Sports.
