Craig Kopczak: Set for Huddersfield debut on Friday against St Helens
High-profile Huddersfield signing Craig Kopczak is set to make his debut in Friday's pre-season friendly against St Helens at Langtree Park.
The Wales captain joined the Giants from Bradford on a three-year contract, and has been named in Friday's starting line-up, with fellow newcomers Ben Blackmore and Anthony Mullally on the bench.
Brett Ferres is currently serving a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle in the Giants' defeat at Hull last September, and while coach Paul Anderson is holding back senior players for the club's final, he will look to the crop of youngsters at the Galpharm Stadium to step in.
St Helens' boss Nathan Brown will give run-outs to close-season signings Willie Manu, Jordan Turner and Alex Walmsley.
The former Huddersfield manager is especially keen to test out Walmsley, who has caught his eye in training after being snapped up from Batley in the winter.
"Not only the coaches, the players are excited to watch him go," Brown said.
"His pre-season has been very good. Now you want to see him on the field and see what he does at Super League level where the pace steps up."
