Anthony Mullally: Will join Huddersfield at the end of this season
Huddersfield have announced the signing of 21-year-old forward Anthony Mullally on a three-year deal from Widnes.
The Giants have paid an undisclosed transfer fee for the 6ft 5in prop, who spent last year in Australia playing for Brisbane Broncos' Under 20 side.
Mullally, who will link up with his new club in November, returned in time for the Widnes' return to Stobart Super League and played 10 times for the Vikings at the start of the year.
"Anthony was identified a long time back by us as being a prodigious talent and the year in Australia confirmed that from the reports we received," Giants managing director Richard Thewlis said.
Mullally joined Championship club Whitehaven on loan after rejecting the offer of a new deal with the Vikings but is set to return to the top flight next season.
He said: "Huddersfield are a leading club in Super League and have been for a number of years with predominantly a young English based team which I am looking forward to joining.
"I know I will have a big fight to get a spot in the first seventeen each week because the squad is so strong but there can be few better than Paul Anderson to learn off in respect of prop play.
"I hear nothing but good reports of all aspects of the set up at Huddersfield and I will be moving across to live there after this season has finished."
