London Broncos make use of Rugby Football League's academy to sign two teenagers

London Broncos have signed two players from the Rugby Football League's Midlands Regional Academy on one-year contracts.

Matt Davies and Ben Grey, who are both 18, will now train with the first-team squad until the start of October this year before spending next season working with the club's Under-19s side.

The duo are the latest editions by the Broncos as they prepare for life in the Championship in 2015.

Head coach Joe Grima has heaped praise on both Davies and Grey, as well as the system that has been put in place by the RFL to help develop players right across the country.

"The feedback from Under-19s coach Danny Ward is that they have been well coached over the past two years in the Midlands Academy environment," he told the Broncos' official website.

"Not only do the lads demonstrate the personal characteristics that we require as a club moving forward, they also have the desire and ability to learn and improve.

"The players have made a remarkable rate of progress considering the small numbers of years they have been playing the game.

"Not only does this demonstrate the potential they have for future development when considering their training age but also shows that talent does exist outside traditional rugby league areas. The RFL should be applauded for the creation of the regional academies."
