Danny McGuire believes teams raise their game every time they face the Leeds Rhinos due to their run of Super League Grand Final titles.
Leeds will take on Warrington at Old Trafford today - live on Sky Sports - chasing a sixth crown in nine seasons, and McGuire can see why that might irk some of their rivals.
"I wouldn't speak for them, but when you're a successful team you've got people that want to be where you are and take a shot at you," he said.
"When you're the champions like we are, everybody wants to knock you off your perch. They're desperate for it. That makes the challenge even tougher for us because teams raise their game by 20 per cent against us.
"I would use Manchester United as a great example. Being a Leeds fan I see they're successful and I just don't like them. But they're a good team who do some great things and because I support Leeds, I'm jealous. I want it to be my team up there."
McGuire will return to the Leeds line-up after the stand-off was suspended for the semi-final win over Wigan due to a careless tackle.
"I would have hated the season to finish like that, you want to finish your season on good terms and to finish it with a ban would have left a bitter taste," he said.
"Throughout the game on Friday I was more nervous than I've ever been, so I'm really happy that the lads played so well and now I get an opportunity, if picked, to get back in there and finish the season on a positive note."
