Australia Test winger Dave Williams is in contention to make a return to competitive rugby for Manly Sea Eagles in the World Club Challenge against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley.

Williams missed Manly's NRL Grand Final victory after fracturing his neck against Melbourne Storm but, after completing a five-month rehabilitation, has set his sights on facing the Super League champions on February 17.

"I'm clear to start contact training and will be right to play if I get selected for the World Club Challenge," said Williams, who is nicknamed Wolfman because of his facial hair.

"I've been able to train at a certain level up until now so it will be great to take it to the next level."

Williams was in the Sea Eagles team that beat Leeds 28-20 at Elland Road in 2009.
