Hull FC prop Jordan Thompson is eager for the club to end their disappointing season on a high by toppling Leeds Rhinos on Friday.
The Black and Whites had been hopeful of challenging for honours under head coach Lee Radford, although the East Yorkshire club will miss out on the play-offs altogether.
Hull FC’s season concludes on home soil on Friday and Thompson sees no reason why they cannot inflict a fifth-straight league defeat on their West Yorkshire rivals.
The former Castleford Tigers is happier with his own performances in 2014 as he believes playing in a settled position has helped develop his game at the KC Stadium.
"I tried to focus on myself and make sure I was turning up and putting my own performance in, even if the results were not quite going for us," he told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I always tried to train hard to make sure my name was in the frame when the team selection came around.

"At Cas, I was wing then centre, then two games in the back row and I never really found my feet. I feel like I have here and that’s led to me playing more consistently.
"It's not been the best season, and not making the play-offs is definitely a blow, but we have just got to concentrate on closing the season out and putting a smile back on the faces of the fans.
"It's a tough end to the season, with all the top four or five teams in the last seven rounds, but it would be great if we can get the result against Leeds Rhinos on our own patch."
