Gareth Ellis: Relishing new start at Hull
Gareth Ellis says he has totally bought into the Hull FC dream and cannot wait to get started with his new club.
The Airlie Birds won the race for the signature of the England forward after he announced earlier this year that he planned to return to Super League after a three-year spell in the NRL with Wests Tigers.
And since agreeing to join Peter Gentle's KC Stadium project, the 31-year-old says he has been keeping a keen eye on the Black and Whites' progress this season.
"The club really sold their ambition to me a few months ago and I came off the phone feeling just like one of the supporters and thinking that Hull FC is going places," Ellis told the club's official website.
"I really wanted to be part of it and I guess that's probably the message to the people of Hull as well, to rally round the team and hopefully we can all get excited about the things that lie ahead."
Ellis has been particularly impressed with the signings that followed his capture, with the likes of Australian half back Daniel Holdsworth and former Hull KR skipper Ben Galea joining him for next season.
"When I spoke to the club, we spoke about the recruitment drive and the players they were looking to bring in to make the squad stronger. They've certainly delivered on the promises they gave to me and it's an exciting time to be joining Hull FC.
"For me, I just want to contribute as much as I can on the field, help out the younger players and who knows, hopefully there will be some silverware as well."
