Warrington forward Anthony England has apologised to Huddersfield captain Danny Brough after being banned for spitting at him.
The 28-year-old former Featherstone prop admitted the offence when he appeared in front a Rugby Football League independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening.
England faced a ban of between four and eight matches after being charged with a grade E offence and the tribunal decided to impose the minimum tariff.
Warrington football manager Karl Fitzpatrick said: "As a club we support the disciplinary action taken by the RFL in this instance.
"This behaviour is totally unacceptable and goes against the spirit of our club and the game. Anthony admits this was wholly inappropriate and has apologised for his actions."
England was sin-binned, along with Brough, following an outbreak of fighting during Huddersfield's Super League 30 19 win at the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday and apparently had to be restrained as the pair continued their disagreement on the sidelines.
England, who was also fined £300, said: "I fully accept the suspension handed down by the judiciary.
"I'd like to apologise to Danny Brough, my club and all our supporters. It happened in the heat of the moment and is something I completely regret."
The suspension starts with Warrington's trip to Hull KR on Friday and includes their Ladbrokes Challenge Cup quarter final against Leigh on June 27.
