Warrington have rejected a bid from Championship leaders Leigh for veteran hooker Micky Higham.

The 34-year-old Higham is an ever-present with the Wolves this season, his seventh at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, and has started the last seven matches ahead of reigning Man of Steel Daryl Clark.

And Wolves are keen not to lose Higham, who began his career with Leigh before spells with St Helens and Wigan - he is currently in his testimonial year.

A statement said: "Following recent speculation, Warrington Wolves can confirm that the club has received a request from Leigh Centurions to sign Micky Higham with immediate effect.

"Micky is contracted at the Wolves until the end of the current 2015 season and, as such the club has turned down this request from the Championship side.

"He is a key part of our first team and one of our more influential and experienced players. We believe he has a big role to play in the future success of 2015."

Meanwhile, Warrington have recalled hooker Brad Dwyer for a month from his loan spell with London Broncos to provide cover for Higham after Clark suffered a knee injury in the win over Widnes nine days ago.
