Warrington Wolves captain Adrian Morley has been ruled out for up to three months following surgery on a bicep injury.

The veteran forward tore a bicep in his left arm in the opening exchanges of his side's win over Catalans Dragons on Friday night.

The Wolves skipper was forced off with the injury in the seventh minute and has since undergone surgery.

"He's had to have an operation on his bicep so he's going to be missing for eight weeks, maybe longer," said coach Tony Smith.

The 35-year-old overcame injuries last season to lead his side to victory in the Challenge Cup and a first ever Grand Final last season.

Smith had hinted before Friday's game that he was prepared to offer his skipper a new deal after he was linked with home-town Salford.

However, Morley, who is out of contract at the end of the season, admitted recently that he would quit rugby league if he felt he was no longer up to the physical challenge of the sport.
