Smith: Losing Harvey
Warrington half-back Craig Harvey has decided to retire from professional rugby league at the age of just 22 to return to his career in the oil industry.
Harvey was on loan at Swinton last season, and produced some impressive pre-season performances for Warrington over the winter.
The former Wirral rugby union man bagged a hat-trick of tries in the Wolves' win over Widnes in a pre-season friendly on Boxing Day.
Harvey joined Wakefield Wildcats three weeks ago on a month-long loan deal, but has yet to get on the field for them and has now abandoned his rugby league career altogether.
An IT technician in the oil industry, Harvey secured a one-year sabbatical from that job when he made the first team squad at Warrington, but after a lack of action he has decided to go back to his original trade.
"The club wishes Craig well for the future and thanks his employers for keeping the position open for him at the company," said a Warrington spokesman.
