Tim Smith: Faces anxious wait to discover extent of injury
Wakefield face an anxious wait to discover the extent of an injury sustained by Tim Smith during the Jon Wilkin testimonial at St Helens.
The Australian half-back was forced off just 15 minutes into the match, which the Wildcats lost 42-12, and he has been taken to hospital with a worrying leg injury.
"He may well have broken his leg or it may well just be bruising, but he's struggling on it at the moment," said Wakefield coach Richard Agar.
"He'll get X-rayed as soon as we get back tonight and we'll get the results from that."
Wakefield, who also lost prop forward Andy Raleigh with rib-cartilage damage, will already have to do without half-back Kyle Wood for the start of the new season.
He has had surgery on a detached retina following a freak training-ground accident.
Wildcats' first Super League game is against Bradford on February 3.
