Wakefield Wildcats have secured the services of Leeds Rhinos prop Brad Singleton on a two-month loan contract.

The 20-year-old completed his first training session with the Wildcats on Wednesday as the team prepares for the pre-season camp in Portugal.

The front-rower has been acquired to boost the forward pack with the former England academy captain keen on competing in Super League.

He has appeared once in Super League in each of the last two seasons at Headingley Carnegie and spent nine games at Dewsbury in 2012 to build up his first team experience.

"I need to be playing Super League because that's the next step of my career. I feel I'm ready and it's what I need to do for my own career to progress."

"I've really enjoyed my first day and I think it's a very good club from what I've seen so far," Singleton told the Wildcats website.

"I need to be playing Super League because that's the next step of my career. I feel I'm ready and it's what I need to do for my own career to progress.

"My time at Dewsbury was spot on and something I really benefited from. It was such a good experience to go out and play some first team rugby which is what I am striving to do.

"I wanted more games at the Rhinos but with the run we had I struggled to get in the side so that's why I'm after more games in 2013.

"We have a good forward pack here and it's going to be a big challenge to get into the side but that's my aim is to battle with some very good props.

"I know Marra (Kyle Amor), he needs a haircut but there's a few like Lee Smith, Ali Lauitiiti, Reece and Bobby so there are a lot of familiar faces which makes it so much easier to slot into the group.

"The first day is important and it has been so much easier knowing a few people and now I need to get to know people and their names."

Wildcats head coach Richard Agar added: "We needed to bring in one more prop to add some depth to that area of our squad and we are happy we have been able to bring in Brad.

"He is a young lad with a very bright future and he will certainly bring competition for places and will complement our pack.

"He will be going to Portugal with the rest of the boys and he's here for two-months so he has time to prove himself and I feel he will make an impact because he is a talented young forward."
