Salford ready to listen to offers for full-back Kevin Locke

Salford are keen to dispense with the services of New Zealand international full-back Kevin Locke.

The 26-year-old has failed to live up to expectations since he moved to Super League last summer and Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has issued some stern public criticism of the player.

Locke lost the full-back spot at Salford to home-grown product Niall Evalds and is currently sidelined following knee surgery.

He is under contract with the Red Devils until the end of 2017 but looks unlikely to see it out as Koukash abandons his policy of big-name recruitment.

"I will even listen to offers for Kevin right now," Koukash said. "Big names do not mean anything to me anymore.

"Some who have come to this club have hardly given the club anything in return.

"Why would I want to ruin the chemistry of what is a very good and strong squad by bringing in what I term 'big-time Charlies'? This will not happen again."

The injury-hit Locke has made just 13 appearances since making his Salford debut at Huddersfield last July and hinted at making a cross-code switch earlier this year until the Scottish RU pulled the plug.
