Wigan prop forward Scott Taylor has joined Salford on a season-long loan deal.

The 23-year-old former Hull KR player is under contract with the Warriors until the end of next season but the club have plenty of front-row options for 2015.

Scott has a fantastic temperament and has great potential to go far in the game.

Wigan have been busy in the transfer market, signing Taulima Tautai from Wakefield and Larne Patrick from Huddersfield, while England international Lee Mossop’s return means the club have to make room on their salary cap.

Taylor, who joined Wigan two years ago and was in their double-winning team of 2013, lost his place in the side for the last six months of the 2014 season and is expected to move to Hull FC ahead of the 2016 campaign.

Salford coach Iestyn Harris knows Taylor well from his role as Wigan assistant coach, and is delighted to secure his services for a season.

Fantastic

"We are delighted to have signed Scott Taylor on loan for 2015. It will be great to be working with him again," he said.

"He has a fantastic temperament and has great potential to go far in the game.

"At 23, he has a wealth of Super League experience, including Challenge Cup and Grand Final appearances, so he brings a lot to the team.

We have been able to negotiate a satisfactory transfer fee for a player who would otherwise have left for nothing in 12 months' time.
Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan

"When I first heard that I had another opportunity to work with Scott I was overjoyed and I think he'll be the final piece of the jigsaw for our 2015 season."

Wigan revealed that Taylor had asked for a move for family reasons and say they have negotiated a transfer fee with Salford.

Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan said: "With Lee Mossop recently returning to the club and an array of quality prop forwards now at our disposal, we are confident in the squad we have for the 2015 season.

"We have been able to negotiate a satisfactory transfer fee for a player who would otherwise have left for nothing in 12 months' time."
