Allan Hunte: Ends spell as Salford coach with big win
Head coach Allan Hunte praised his four Salford debutants for their part in the 82-6 Challenge Cup win over Gloucestershire All Golds.
John Ford in particular caught the eye with a hat-trick while Will Hope, Jordan Walne and George Tyson also crossed for debut tries.
And Hunte, in his last game in charge of the Reds before Brian Noble takes over, says the future is looking bright at the Super League club.
"As a coach with the scoreline progressing along as it was, you can relax a little bit," said Hunte. "I thought the actual performances were good and that was pleasing, you wouldn't have known they were on debut today.
"We want this to be the start of a legacy of good quality homegrown talent turning out in a Salford shirt.
"The first twenty minutes we struggled, we were a little bit scrappy but credit to the All Golds, they got in our face, made it difficult for us.
"We knew they were going to tire having never played at that level of intensity, it was always going to be hard for them to keep it up.
"But I'm sure that as the season goes on that team will get better and better and every single individual involved with the club can be proud of what they're doing."
