Joel Moon will return to Salford in 2013 as head coach Phil Veivers has five potential signings lined up for the City Reds.
The Australian centre had been linked with a close-season move to the Leeds Rhinos, who were looking to strengthen their options following the departures of Lee Smith and Brent Webb.
Veivers has yet to start his recruitment for next season and cannot understate the importance of the return of the ex-New Zealand Warriors player.
"He's definitely coming back and that's massive for us," he said. "He was really good for us prior to his injuries."
Veivers arrived back from a trip to his native Australia on Friday and is now waiting for the go-ahead to complete the paperwork on his potential signings.
With the club currently having financial issues, long-serving chairman John Wilkinson is thought to be prepared to hand over control if a suitable deal can be finalised.
Talks have been on-going between club bosses, Salford City Council and ground owners Peel Holdings.
"I keep being told it's going to happen," he continued. "I've got players waiting to come and they're all hungry."
