St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham says the Super League champions have nobody to fear but themselves as they look to cut the gap on leaders Leeds to a point.

The Saints are going in search of a third successive win when they travel to Catalan Dragons on Saturday. They will be hoping to reverse the 42-0 thrashing they received at Perpignan last season and Cunningham believes preparation is essential.

"The team that beats us most times is ourselves. If you don't prepare well, regardless of who you are playing against, then you are not going to do well.”

"The teams that say Catalans away is not a good trip are those that have gone there and lost.”

Catalans have lost six of their seven away games but only Leeds has beaten them on home soil.

“"They are a completely different team at home. Any side that has got Scott Dureau and Todd Carney playing for them is going to be a dangerous so we've got to be on our money."

Champions St Helens are set to have hooker James Roby back in place of youngster Lewis Charnock. As a former hooker himself, Cunningham was delighted with Charnock’s full debut against Wakefield last Friday where he scored two tries.

“'Dougie' (Charnock) did a good job which convinced me he is a good back-up for 'Robes'. I’ve been a nine all my life and I know he’s going to be a good nine.”
