Championship Grand Final winners Leigh Centurions have signed Richard Beaumont after his release by St Helens.

The former Hull KR prop forward never played for Saints after struggling to overcome a groin injury and has signed a 12-month contract with the Centurions, with the option of a second year in favour of the club.

The 26-year-old made 19 first-team appearances for the Robins and during his season at St Helens played four games on a dual registration for Rochdale.

We are giving him an opportunity to make his mark at an intensely ambitious club and in a fantastic environment.

Leigh coach Paul Rowley said: "Richard is a player we have had a close eye upon over the last few seasons. He is a quality player with obvious physical attributes.

“Richard has been unlucky to have been plagued by injury but we are giving him an opportunity to make his mark at an intensely ambitious club and in a fantastic environment."

Leigh have also snapped up 20-year-old full-back or half-back Ben Reynolds from Castleford, who have retained an option to re-sign him for the 2016 season.
