Shaun Wane pleased with WIgan attack in win over Warrington

Wigan head coach Shaun Wane was pleased with his side’s attacking play as they overcame Warrington 30-20 at the DW Stadium on Thursday.

Dom Manfredi scored a hat-trick on a night that saw Ben Flower return after his six month suspension and the Warriors confirm the re-signing of Sam Tomkins from the New Zealand Warriors.

Having fallen 10-0 behind after little more than 10 minutes, Wigan responded and led 16-14 at the end of a breathless first half before going on to dominate the second period.

“We’ve had a tough period of late over Easter and the boys did well today,” said Wane.

“I think our attack was very good against a good Warrington team – where they are in the league is not where they should be, they’re a good team with good individuals.

“I’m happy with the win and we’ll go into Wakefield on Thursday very confident.”

Wane also expressed his delight that Tomkins will return for the 2016 season, teaming up with brothers Joel and Logan once more.

“It shows that we do something right at this club and I want people to realise it,” he added.

“I’m really pleased we’ve got him back, he’s an outstanding individual but not just on the field but off the field.

“He’s got high standards in training and he’s my sort of player, he’s very competitive.”
