Super League: Alex Walmsley banned for St Helens' qualifying playoff with Castleford

St Helens will be without forward Alex Walmsley for the qualifying playoff tie against Castleford on Friday because of suspension.

However, the Saints prop will be available for the rest of this season’s Super League playoffs.

Walmsley was given a one-match ban after being found guilty of a grade B careless high tackle on Huddersfield scrum-half Luke Robinson during St Helens' 17-16 defeat last Friday.

The player was dismissed for the challenge, but was initially accused of a grade C shoulder charge.

That was downgraded by a disciplinary tribunal at a hearing in Leeds on Tuesday and he now misses only the showdown with the Tigers at Langtree Park.
