In 2013 it's the Huddersfield Giants who gain the extra motivation after Warrington chose to play them in this week's play-off semi-final.

It wasn't that long ago that the Giants were 7/2 favourites for glory at Old Trafford but they are now the 11/2 outsiders to win the Grand Final.

The drift came mainly from the loss to Wigan then further once the Wolves had elected a fourth game against them.

Warrington have lost just three times at home this season and are now the favourites at 11/8 to lift the Super League trophy.

Tony Smith's men finished just one point behind the Giants after 27 regular rounds of Super League and have been installed as 4/9 favourites to make it to Old Trafford on Thursday night.

It's Huddersfield who take my fancy in the first of the two play-off games though.

The Warrington board opted to play the Giants based largely on the fact that they have beaten them three times this season, yet I think this could have a detrimental effect on them, as it did last year against Leeds.

The home side have picked the team who has scored the most tries in 2013 - with 159 - and the most tackle busts so they certainly have their work cut out.

After being knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Warrington, the Giants went on to win their next five games which eventually clinched top spot.

The League Leaders' Shield winners have only had a plus handicap as big as the one they have on Thursday on five occasions this year and in all but one of those they won the game.

Huddersfield +6 on Thursday is 10/11 and the outright price of 7/4 is also appealing given the season the Giants have had.

Joel Moon: Knows his way to the try line against the Warriors

Moon to shine

Leeds Rhinos travel to Wigan on Friday in an attempt to repeat the heroics of last year's play-off victory.

They are 11/8 outsiders and +4 on the handicap market which has already seen some action and prompted a market move from 6/4.

The current Super League Champions moved very slightly from 10/3 into 3/1 after last weekend's dramatic win over St Helens but it's their opponents on Friday who have seen the biggest drift.

They went from 4/1 into 11/4 after beating Huddersfield and are rightly favourites for the clash at the DW Stadium this week.

The visitors do, however, have form and momentum on their side after beating the Warriors 20-6 at this venue three weeks ago and a 13-12 victory in the play-offs last year.

For me, the match result is too close to call given the stats which favour both sides so I've picked out an anytime try scorer at 11/8.

Joel Moon has experienced a very successful start to his Leeds Rhinos career this year and finished the season with 16 tries - one more than prolific winger Ryan Hall and just one less than the club's top try scorer Kallum Watkins.

In that win three weeks ago, Moon was on the score sheet for the Rhinos and crossed for a crucial try in last week's low scoring game against St Helens.

He also managed a four-pointer against the Cherry and Whites at Headingley in round seven.

In what I expect to be a tight game, the centre won't be looking to offload as much as he usually would so at 11/8 he is a good bet to bag another play-off try.

Senior Says...

"I'm going for the away teams this week as I think they will both be highly motivated.

Huddersfield won't have liked being picked in the Club Call after finishing first in the league and Leeds won't be willing to give up their trophy without a fight.

"For both teams to win on their respective handicap at 11/4 is a good bet this week."
