Currie: Warrington youngster has caught Barrie's eye

Warrington 34-6 Hull KR

BARRIE SAYS: Warrington coach Tony Smith has got his rotation policy just about right ahead of next week's Challenge Cup semi-final; he left out Adrian Morley and Ben Westwood, who is one of the big, warrior players, but they still had enough to beat Hull KR. Smith is a great operator but when you have young players performing well, like Ben Currie did in this game, it makes it easier to rotate. However, members of the over-30 club featured in this game, too, with both Brett Hodgson and Michael Monaghan scoring tries.

Widnes 38-12 London Broncos

BARRIE SAYS: I think Widnes getting in the play-offs is highly achievable but they have to win the games they are supposed to win and of their remaining five games - Hull, Castleford, Warrington, Hull KR and Salford - I think they can win three. Adam Lawton, 6ft 7in and 18 stone, has been a real success story for Widnes, and scored three tries in this game, but it was desperate for London - though they probably rested players for next week's Challenge Cup semi-final with Wigan.

Huddersfield 48-32 Castleford

BARRIE SAYS: I can't give you Cristano Ronaldo but I can give you Danny Brough who is a tremendous player and scored 20 points in this game, while two-try Ben Blackmore, signed in the offseason from Castleford, is making headlines, too. Castleford got within eight points of the Giants at one stage and I'm sure their coach Daryl Powell, would have been pleased with the fight back [after going in at half-time 36-4 down] - though Huddersfield boss Paul Anderson described it as "disgraceful".

Leeds 20-18 Wakefield

BARRIE SAYS: Leeds are missing their talisman Kevin Sinfield, who is out with a broken thumb, but Liam Sutcliffe has stepped straight into his boots and while this game looked quite tight, the Rhinos were dominant for big chunks, with Brett Delaney, one of these glue players that makes everybody else play better, coming back in, and Ryan Hall, who has been described as the world's best winger. The biggest cheer of the night was for former Leeds player Ali Lauitiiti but Wakefield didn't quite have enough.

Bradford 19-12 Hull FC

BARRIE SAYS: Bradford needed to win this game to stay within touching distance of the top eight and a loss could have been game, set and match for their season, but the big front-rowers played a huge part; Manase Manuokafoa, Nick Scruton, Matt Diskin and Ben Evans were all really important and did the hard stuff. You thought Hull might have a bit too much quality and take this game but Bradford showed a lot of resilience and Jarrod Sammut came up with some fantastic plays.

Salford 16-12 Catalans

BARRIE SAYS: Salford's players are not just playing for their place in the team, they are playing for their profession; the City Reds are a mid-to-lower Super League team and if you drop out of that then you may have to enter part-time work. They got a good win over Catalans, though, but the Dragons are nowhere near the force they were a month ago, despite Elliott Whitehead, a recent acquisition from Bradford, scoring his first try for the club.
