Salford have eased their injury and suspension crisis with the signing of Wigan players James Greenwood and Oliver Gildart on a month's loan.

Prop forward Greenwood, 23, spent last season on loan to London Broncos and has made just one Super League appearance so far for the Warriors in 2015.

Gildart,18, has yet to play in Super League but signed a new four-year deal with the club at the start of the season.

Salford coach lestyn Harris said he is without 14 players because of injury and suspension, while Wigan boss Shaun Wane said he is getting close to being able to select from a full-strength squad.

Wane said: "After a hard Easter period we've come through it okay and have really started to get some numbers back on board lately.

"I can't guarantee James and Oliver game-time at the moment so when this opportunity came about we all agreed that this was an excellent chance for them to go and test themselves at Super League level.

"They are two good kids who I rate highly. I am sure they will want to impress whilst on loan at Salford and look forward to seeing how they get on."

Salford chief executive Martin Vickers said: "We have had to be active quickly in bringing new faces in this week in light of Iestyn's selection problems.

"The arrival of highly-rated youngsters like these will help us through this sticky patch and benefit us greatly before we start to get some of our regular faces back on the field.

"Salford Red Devils would like to put on record their thanks to the clubs we have worked with over the past 48 hours in order to make these loans happen."
