Huddersfield have signed promising back-row forward Oliver Roberts from relegated Bradford for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

Roberts, 18, made five Super League appearances over the last two years but missed the second half of the 2014 season after breaking a leg in the Bulls' Easter Monday defeat at Wigan.

"Bradford offered me a deal to stay when I regained fitness from injury but I wanted to stay in the Super League competition if at all possible after our relegation," Roberts said.

"The Giants expressed interest and as I live really close and played amateur rugby with a few of the boys there I know how good a set-up it is and I am joining a top-four club."

Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said: "Oliver was the stand-out back rower of his age group for a number of years coming through the ranks and has represented England at youth level.

"He is one of those lads that our staff watching junior games have always earmarked as having great potential and it's very good news that we were able to reach agreement with the Bulls for the transfer of his registration."
