Leeds coach Brian McDermott has revealed Kevin Sinfield could yet feature in Friday's clash with Catalan Dragons after naming him in his 19-man squad for the trip.

The Rhinos skipper hobbled off with seven minutes remaining of his side's 18-12 win over Warrington at Headingley last week after injuring his ankle.

In his post-match interview, McDermott allayed any fears of a possible break but suggested that Leeds could be without the England international for possibly a couple of weeks at the least.

However the 33-year-old - who kicked three goals in the victory over the Wolves, helping his team make it two wins from two at the start of the new season - has responded well to treatment and may play in Perpignan.

McDermott has included teenage stand-off Liam Sutcliffe in his travelling party as cover for Sinfield.

Chance

"He's got a chance for Friday, but I have my doubts. I don't think he'll play Friday, it will probably be the week after. But we certainly won't write him off."

"Kev has recovered really well over the weekend," McDermott told the club's official website.

"It was a reasonable twist there, and a roll of his ankle. But he's responded really well to treatment and Kev is frantically doing everything he can to try and get it right for Friday.

"Our initial findings after the game meant I honestly thought it would be two weeks.

The Rhinos will go up against a Dragons side that is yet to get off the mark in 2014, having suffered back-to-back away defeats; they were beaten 32-6 by Castleford on Sunday.

The French club will have to wait to see if Julian Bousquet is free to play this week - the prop was charged on Monday with making a grade D dangerous tackle on Tigers full-back Jordan Tansey at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
