Experienced winger Liam Colbon has joined Hull on a 12-month contract to become the club's ninth new addition for the 2014 season.

The 29-year-old, who has had spells at Wigan, Hull KR and London Broncos, was among the major clear-out at the Broncos at the end of last season and faced an uncertain future without a Super League team.

But the Airlie Birds have handed a lifeline to a player who has made 132 top-flight appearances and score 45 tries since his debut for the Warriors in 2004.

"All the adversity I faced at London last year and the uncertainty of having a job really put things into perspective," he said.

"I've had to do an internship and look at coaching as I wasn't sure if I'd find another club at this stage of the year but this offer from Hull came out of the blue and I'm really excited.

"I've been doing a lot of fitness training on my own and I'm just really looking forward to getting back into a team environment. First and foremost, I want to come in and gain the respect of my team-mates and then the coaching staff, but I know competition for places will be tough."

Hull coach Lee Radford said: "Liam will offer us cover and depth on the wing with Jason Crookes injured and the situation with Tom Biggs still ongoing.

"I played against him on a number of occasions and he was a real handful to tackle. He brings plenty of grunt and intensity out of back field.

"He is coming for the right reasons and wants to get his career back on track. He's weighed up his options after leaving London and wants to come here to prove himself and that's what we want in players."
