Wakefield's 23-year-old hooker Matty Wildie has agreed a new one-year contract at Belle Vue.
Wildie, who has seen a host of players being sold in recent weeks to solve the club's financial crisis, says he is delighted to extend his stay with his hometown club into an eighth season.
"I wanted to be loyal to the club," he said. "We're obviously going through a tough time but hopefully we can put things right on the field and put it all behind us.
"It's a big year for me and hopefully I can be playing consistently well and play a lot more games than I have in previous years.
"You sign a contract to be in the team week-in, week-out and all the hard work in pre-season goes towards playing through the season.Hopefully I can string a few more games together and play throughout the year.
"As a 23 year old you want to be playing week-in, week-out. You're looking to kick on in your career at that stage.
