Iain Thornley: Called up by Kieron Purtill to face Samoa at Salford City Stadium later this month
Four Wigan youngsters have been called up for the England Knights who face Samoa in a friendly later this month.
The match at Salford City Stadium on October 19 will be played as a curtain-raiser to England's World Cup warm-up clash against Italy later in the day.
The Warriors' quartet of Dom Crosby, Sam Powell, Scott Taylor and Iain Thornley were named in a 19-man Knights' squad coached by Kieron Purtill.
Warrington duo Stefan Ratchford and Richie Myler, who missed out on selection for England's initial World Cup squad, will hope to press their claim for a late inclusion.
National coach Steve McNamara said the door was not closed and the game against Samoa will provide them with one last chance to play in the World Cup.
Purtill said: "It is a good opportunity for all the players, you never know who is watching.
"The World Cup tournament definitely serves as motivation for the players.
"There are still three weeks to go until Steve McNamara can change his squad, so we have told the players to prepare as if they were playing a full international."
