Warrington have announced that Tyrone McCarthy and Rhys Williams have been released.

Ireland second rower McCarthy made 43 appearances for the Wolves and featured in the 2009 Challenge Cup final just weeks after joining his home-town club.

Wales winger Williams scored 21 tries in his 29 appearances, but both he and McCarthy have struggled for first-team action recently and spent most of the season on dual registration with Championship club Swinton.

A Warrington spokesman said: "All associated with the Wolves would like to thank both Tyrone and Rhys for their service to the club over the years and wish them well for their future rugby careers."

Neither player is involved in the Super League play-offs but both are expected to feature in the forthcoming World Cup.
