Widnes prop Ben Kavanagh has been added to Scotland's provisional World Cup squad.

Kavanagh, 25, qualifies for Scotland through his Glaswegian grandmother and he will replace former Australian Test front rower Keith Galloway who was forced to pull out through injury.

Kavanagh, who joined the Vikings from Wigan in 2008, has played in all but five of their 30 league and cup matches this season.

Scotland coach Steve McNamara is due to announce his 23-man squad next week.
