Warrington Wolves have chosen Huddersfield as their semi-final opponents in this year's Super League play-offs.

Wolves made their Club Call decision live on Sky Sports News on Sunday lunchtime.

The match against the Giants will take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium this coming Thursday.

Warrington Wolves have chosen Huddersfield as their semi-final opponents in this year's Super League play-offs.

Warrington could also have selected Leeds who will now face Wigan in the other semi-final to be contested at the DW Stadium 24 hours later.

The Giants collected the league leaders' shield this season before suffering a shock defeat to Wigan in the first round of play-off matches.

Leeds, meanwhile, are the reigning Grand Final champions who finished third in this season's Super League table.

But Wolves will go into this week's game against Huddersfield wary of recent history regarding the Club Call method of naming a team's opponents.

In each of the past two seasons, Leeds were selected as semi-final opponents by Warrington and Wigan respectively and - on each occasion - enjoyed shock away-day victories.

After making their call, Warrington chairman Stephen Broomhead said: "Following very careful consideration, we have decided to play Huddersfield Giants.

"The decision was made that we would choose the winners of the Huddersfield-Hull game."

Although Huddersfield finished top of the table for the first time in 81 years, they have suffered three defeats at the hands of Wolves this season.

The Grand Final takes place at Old Trafford on October 5. All of the Super League play-offs are televised live on Sky Sports.
