Adam Pearson: Embarrassed by performance a Huddersfield
Hull owner Adam Pearson has promised to refund fans who made the trip to Huddersfield to watch Thursday's "embarrassing" 76-18 thrashing.
Pearson issued an apology to the club's supporters after their side conceded 13 tries to crash out of the Super League play-offs in horrific fashion.
The result has prompted speculation over the future of coach Peter Gentle, and Pearson announced he is to conduct a "significant review" of the first-team set-up.
"The performance was not acceptable at any level and I must apologise to all our supporters, especially the thousand or so that made the journey to Huddersfield on a week night and cheered on their team from the first minute to the last."
"On behalf of the club, I want to apologise unreservedly for the embarrassing performance that was produced in our play-off fixture," Pearson said.
"The obvious failings of such a performance have highlighted why we will now undertake a significant review of all areas and matters involving the first-team squad.
"The performance was not acceptable at any level and I must apologise to all our supporters, especially the thousand or so that made the journey to Huddersfield on a week night and cheered on their team from the first minute to the last.
"As a gesture of good will from the club, every supporter who attended the game will receive the admission price of their ticket as a discount when renewing or buying a season pass for 2014."
The Black and Whites have now suffered heavy defeats in the play-offs in three consecutive seasons, while they also drew widespread criticism for their performance in the Challenge Cup Final defeat to Wigan last month.
"The standard of Thursday's performance was unsatisfactory, inadequate and far below the standards we should be setting at this club, and the on-going review process will now look at every detail of that," Pearson added.
"Once again I must apologise to everyone and assure all our supporters that we remain committed to delivering consistent success at Hull FC for years to come and we won't rest until we have achieved that."
