Gareth Widdop has handed England a boost ahead of the Rugby League World Cup this autumn by making his comeback for Melbourne Storm on Friday.
The stand-off has been out for 13 weeks after dislocating his hip but returned as the Storm lost 20-10 in their NRL play-off against South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Widdop was up against Sam Burgess but will be hoping to line-up alongside the former Bradford prop during the World Cup.
Having moved to Australia as a teenager, Widdop started his professional career with the Storm and has collected eight England caps to date, scoring three tries.
A shoulder injury for Brett Finch gave the Halifax-born 24-year-old the opportunity to pull on the Melbourne jersey again but the England international couldn't prevent his side falling to a defeat.
Former Wigan prop Jeff Lima scored his first try for Souths as they moved to within 80 minutes of the Grand Final.
