Jack Reed: Returned too early from dislocated collarbone
England centre Jack Reed has emerged as a doubt for the World Cup due to a collarbone problem.
The Brisbane Broncos have revealed that Reed has been playing with the injury for the last six weeks.
Reed was originally ruled out for six weeks after his dislocated his collarbone, but he went against advice from doctors and returned to action well ahead of schedule.
But the Broncos have admitted the injury did not have time to heal properly, and his collarbone continued to dislocate in almost every NRL game that he played.
He was not permitted to do any contact work at training and club officials were astounded at the bravery and sacrifice of a player willing to put his body on the line regardless of the obvious pain he was suffering.
"He is a tough b*****," said Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin. "He just kept playing."
Reed will learn this week whether he needs surgery and if his World Cup dreams are over.
