Wakefield Wildcats duo Danny Kirmond and Andy Raleigh are winning the race to be fit for Friday's Super League showdown with Leeds Rhinos.
Wakefield's four-match winning run was ended in a thrilling 20-18 defeat at Headingley Carnegie on Friday and they also suffered an injury to Kirmond who was forced off in the second half because of a knee problem.
But scans have shown no serious damage and the club are hopeful the skipper will respond to further treatment and lead the team out in the rematch.
There was also good news for prop Raleigh after scans showed damage to his cheekbone was not as bad as initially feared.
The 2012 Player of the Year is also set to be available for head coach Richard Agar.
Taulima Tautai has been out since June with a thumb injury and could be called upon.
Centre Dean Collis is also hoping to prove his fitness as he continues his rehabilitation from a recurring problem with a hamstring injury.
