Ryan Brierley has rejected the chance to return to Castleford and will sign a new two-year deal with Leigh Centurions.

The 21-year-old, a prolific tryscorer since joining the Championship club from Castleford two years ago, finished top of their try-scoring charts in the past two seasons.

Leigh director Andy Mazey said: "We were fully aware of Castleford's and the other Super League clubs' interest so it gives me great pleasure to announce that we were able to retain and reward one of the game's brightest young talents."

Brierley said: "I'm excited to be part of Leigh Centurions' long-term plans.

"Playing for Leigh means a lot to me and it's clear that, having spoken at length with Paul and representatives of the new board, that the club is ambitious and its plans match those of my own to play in Super League."
