Wakefield Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has confirmed the Super League club are no longer holding contract talks with half-back Kyle Wood.
The 24-year-old former Huddersfield Giants man is out of contact at the end of the season, although Wakefield were keen to secure him on fresh terms.
Wood joined Wakefield from the Giants in 2011 and he is now being linked with a return to the high-flyers after talks with the Wildcats came to an end.
"He's not signed a deal with us and we're not talking to him [about one] anymore," Agar told the Wakefield Express.
Wood, who could feature in Sunday's clash against the London Broncos, spent two years with Huddersfield until 2011, but failed to make a break-through under Nathan Brown.
