Kallum Watkins: His recovery from an ankle injury is ahead of schedule
Kallum Watkins is making an 'excellent recovery' following injury and is expected to return to action sooner than expected.
The Leeds Rhino has an ankle injury but according to Andy Barker, the
head physiotherapist told the club's website: "He is making tremendous progress and has already taken a couple of weeks of his estimated return date.
"We expect him to be available sooner rather than later."
Barker also confirmed that Kevin Sinfield and Ryan Bailey underwent successful surgery on injured thumbs.
Barker added: "Ryan has had his thumb pinned because of a fracture as has Kevin.
"Initially we thought it was a dislocation and ligament damage for Kevin however, on inspection, there was a fracture as well.
"Having it pinned is not necessarily a bad thing for Kevin and should actually mean he can come back perhaps a week earlier than we initially anticipated."
Meanwhile, prop Brad Singleton is struggling to recover for this weekend's game against Huddersfield Giants.
Head Coach Brian McDermott said: "Unfortunately Brad suffered a dead leg on Monday.
"He is receiving treatment from the medical team and we will give him as long as possible to recover before we decide.
"We will also make late checks on Kylie Leuluai and Carl Ablett. In Carl's case he will have a scan on Friday to check if the break has healed."
Joel Moon is already suspended for Sunday's match.
